InfiniteMind is a brain-computer interface that is intended to enable people with severe physical disabilities to browse the internet through brainwaves. Brainwaves will be detected from the scalp and transmitted wirelessly to a computer by a commercial 14-sensor electroencephalographic (EEG) headset, Emotiv Epoc. Using the P300 event-related potential system together with the thought detection, the software will process and interpret the brainwave signals into commands for spelling and web browsing.

InfiniteMind will provide a command interface alongside a web browser window. Based on the P300 paradigm, the main command interface will be a black screen window containing a matrix of characters and images representing input commands. A user will be instructed to focus on the desired character or command while the matrix’s rows and columns flash in a random order. The flash on a targeted selection will generate an evoked potential in the brain signals which could be detected to identify the desired command.

Input commands will feature most of the web navigation functions and a speller that comes with the predictive text system to speed up typing with the brain. The picture below illustrates how the user interface will look like.
