Nutri-Scan

Nutri-Scan is an Android mobile phone application that monitors its users’ eating habits. The application aims to help people become healthier. Users take pictures of food labels in order to extract text from them so that the users can monitor their nutrient intake as well as learn more about the various ingredients in their food. Essentially, the application reads food labels in order to perform a variety of functions with the resulting information: users can learn more about a particular chemical or ingredient in their food, track how much of a particular nutrient they consume, or plan their next meal.

Nutri-Scan is not targeted to any particular niche or user-base. Anyone who wishes to have an easier way to journal their eating habits can use it. In particular, it may be more popular among people who are restricted to a certain daily limit of a particular nutrient or those who are especially conscious about the ingredients they consume.
