These days, the goal of designing technical tools is not only to maximize its efficiency, but to provide the most intuitive way for the interaction. Embracing value of intuitiveness, Virtual Sculpture offers a new method to manipulate the three-dimensional contents through hand gesture. Instead of mouse or keyboard, the software takes advantage of hand-based recognition using Microsoft Kinect depth sensor. It is able to define the user’s hand position in the three-dimensional virtual space by translating from actual hands’ position. Moreover, the user could interact with the three-dimensional model by directly grabbing the point on the object’s surface and alter the point by pulling it around. The object maintains the flexibility of a cloth-like material that providing the defining shape and curve. Virtual Sculpture will simplify the 3D modeling process and inspire artists around the world to shape up their master piece without requiring excessive learning curve.
